Overview

Join award-winning, local musician Freya Milliken and guests for a one-of-a-kind group non-songwriters’ experience. Take a deep-listening walk in the Wabanaki (Acadian) forest to absorb the sights, smells and  sounds. Then, return to the community hall, to share your reflections and experiences and make some fun music out of it!

Experience Highlights:

  • Engage your senses on a deep-listening walk in the Annapolis Valley: Take in sights, smells, and especially the sounds of flora, fauna, wind, and water in the beautiful Wabanaki-Acadian forest.
  • Discover the music we all have inside of us with the help of expert guides in a relaxed and un-intimidating way.
  • Access ukuleles, shakers, and other percussion instruments or bring your own instrument if you’re able.
  • Have fun as we create a new song together, with a digitally edited and mixed version to be shared with everyone.
  • Get to know Music in Communities Cooperative a non-profit that strives to promote music literacy, present great live music, support under-represented voices, and strengthen communities through shared musical experiences.

Price: $60 per person + HST and booking fee

Good to Know:

  • No musical experience or abilities required!
  • Dress for the season, bring layered clothing and comfortable shoes for an outdoor walk.
  • Bring your Smart Phone to record nature sounds, and a sense of adventure and curiosity.
  • Accessible washroom facilities are available at the West Brooklyn Community Hall
  • A portion of this event takes place in the woods, on trails with uneven terrain. However, we can accommodate individuals with limited mobility. Please let us know in advance so we can ensure the event is accessible.

Conditions & cancellations: Book in advance – full payment required. Cancellation up to one-week in advance, a refund of advance payment minus $10 administrative, service fee. Cancellation from one-week in advance to date of program: No refunds. This is a rain-or-shine event. Full refunds will be provided if the program is cancelled by Music in Communities for reasons due to health, hurricanes, or icy/snowy roads.
