Overview

Relax on a two-night stay, in a quiet riverside cottage, and learn about Indigenous, art, culture, and traditions in Mi’kma’ki. Guided by Mi’kmaw artists and knowledge holders, craft your own porcupine-quill-medallion and savour a delicious community-catered supper with Mi’kmaw drumming, music, and stories on this one-of-a-kind getaway!

Experience Includes:

  • Recharge in nature with a relaxing two-night stay in a one-bedroom cottage, including full kitchen, at the Tidal Bore Rafting Resort.
    • Explore wooded walking trails, sit on the edge of the historic Shubenacadie River and watch for eagles or observe how the river changes with the Bay of Fundy tides.
  • Wake up to a thoughtful breakfast box on Saturday morning to be enjoyed in your cottage.
  • Get creative during a porcupine quill medallion workshop led by a Mi’kmaw artist and knowledge holder.
  • Enjoy a festive, social supper with drumming, music, and storytelling led by a Mi’kmaw knowledge holder. Your delicious supper includes freshly made luskinikn (luski), a traditional Mi’kmaw bread, and is catered by a community member from Sipekne’katik First Nation.

  • November 7 to November 9, 2025 (meals & activities on November 8)
  • December 5 to December 7, 2025 (meals & activities on December 6)
  • January 9 to January 11, 2026 (meals & activities on January 10)
  • February 6 to February 8, 2026 (meals & activities on February 7)
  • March 13 to March 15, 2026 (meals & activities on March 14)
  • April 10 to April 12, 2026 (meals & activities on April 11)

Price: $738 + tax for two adults ($369 + tax per person), based on double occupancy, in a one-bedroom cottage. Please inquire with Tidal Bore Rafting Resort for upgrades to a two-bedroom cottage or another accommodation type.

Good to Know:

  • Tidal Bore Rafting Resort is proudly owned and operated by Sipekne’katik First Nation and 100% of profits generated go back to a community of approximately 3,000 Mi’kmaw band members.
  • Experience timing is as follows for Saturday activities & meal:
    • 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Quill Medallion Workshop
    • 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Supper and evening drumming workshop
  • Experience Supper Menus are as follows:
    • Saturday, October 25: Lasagna, Caesar Salad, luskinikn (luski), and cake with blueberries.
    • Saturday, November 8: Hearty Beef and Rice Stew, luskinikn (luski), and strawberry frybread dessert with chocolate ganache and whip cream.
    • Saturday, December 6: Jerk chicken and rice, luskinikn (luski), and cinnabon cake.
    • Winter 2026 experience menus will be available in late November.
    • Please advise at time of booking if you have dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Guaranteed check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am. There must be at least one guest staying in each cabin who is at least 18 years-old at the time of check-in.
  • Tidal Bore Rafting Resort is a dog-friendly property. There is a non-refundable pet fee of $50 per stay, and a maximum of three dogs permitted in any cottage or cabin.

  • A a non-refundable 25% deposit is charged at the time of booking to guarantee your experience reservation. The remaining balance is due at check-in. Cancellations must be made at least 7 days in advance of the experience check-in date to avoid paying the remaining 75% balance of the booking total. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to experience check-in (and no shows) will be charged the remaining 75% balance of the experience reservation total. If the experience is cancelled by Tidal Bore Rafting Resort due to severe weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, guests will be notified 24-hours in advance and receive a full refund.
