First opened in 1890, this par-72 (5897 yards) course with its open links-style layout provides a true challenge for any golfer with rolling fairways, small fast greens and unpredictable ocean breezes. Yarmouth Links has a slope rating of 118 with a course rating of 68.6 from the white tees, and a slope rating of 125 and course rating of 72.6 from the red tees. Other golf course property features include a putting green, driving range, golf clubs and pull and power golf cart rentals, and a licensed snack bar. Green fee players are welcome. Located in the clubhouse, fuel up before or after your game at Galley South. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner April through November with special events and take-out nights offered in the off season, the restaurant is open to everyone. Reservations are recommended. Description: York Redoubt National Historic Site is a 200-year-old fortification on a high bluff overlooking the entrance to the Halifax Harbour, just 14 km / 8.7 mi from downtown Halifax. Established in 1793, it was a key element in the defence of Halifax Harbour during the second half of the 19th century. This National Historic Site is a unique heritage treasure featuring interpretive panels, tunnels, muzzle-loading guns, and a World War II Command Post. Visitors are invited to stroll along the many walking trails, wander among the armament and fortifications and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Halifax Harbour. Visit all five national historic sites that make up the Halifax Defence Complex and learn more about Halifax’s rich history.
