Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge

The annual Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge will take place Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Now in it’s 16th year, this popular hiking event welcomes hiking teams of four to register to hike three mountain trails in Cape Breton – all in one day!

2026 3 Peaks Challenge will hike the following mountain trails:

1. Squirrel Mountain in Grand Etang: 4.65 km in a steep, steady climb
2. Roberts Mountain in Pleasant Bay: 3.9 km return; good for all skill levels
3. Acadian Mountain in Petit Etang near National Park entrance: 8.4 km loop, moderate hike with steep inclines

Teams will hike approximately 16-18 km along with elevations of approximately 3,500 metres.

Only 24 teams will be allowed to participate in this popular hiking event. Team registration fee for this event is $200 and includes a long sleeve t-shirt and cooling towel per team member along with a Parks Canada Cape Breton Highlands National Park one-day park pass, map, and other items.
