Overview

Located in the small Acadian village of Pomquet, 20 km east of Antigonish, on the shores of St. George’s Bay, Chez Deslauriers is a 19th century heritage homestead property that houses an interpretive centre outlining the history of Pomquet and the surrounding area with an attached outdoor stage, along with a small restaurant that is open on Fridays in July and August when they host the popular Friday Acadian Lunches.

On the grounds, visitors can walk the Pomquet Acadian Trails (Sentiers Acadiens de Pomquet), 6 km of inland and coastal hiking trails which includes three stacked loops and a 1 km linear coastal trail.

Special events and meals, including their popular lobster roll dinners, are held throughout the year on the property. Overlooking the Northumberland Strait and nearby Pomquet Beach Provincial Park, Chez Deslauriers is a popular venue for hosting special events celebrating the area’s rich Acadian culture as well as weddings, family reunions, and more.

The property is administered by the Pomquet Development Society, a community volunteer group.
