Please note: As of April 2, 2026, Admiralty House and the Naval Museum of Halifax will be undergoing planned renovations and will be closed to the public until its reopening in Spring 2028.

Overview

The Naval Museum of Halifax, formerly the Maritime Command Museum, aims to foster an understanding of the rich and dynamic history of the Royal Canadian Navy. Spanning from the foundation of the RCN in 1910 into its more modern configuration, the museum strives to inspire curiosity about, and to celebrate, the contributions of those who have served.

The museum is housed in Admiralty House, a 200+ year old building that is a designated National Historic Site.

Beginning in April 2026, Admiralty House will be undergoing planned renovations to ensure it is preserved for many years to come. During this time, the museum will be closed until Spring 2028 when the renovations have been completed.
