Overview
3-Day Cape Chignecto Kayak Experience
Embark on the ultimate sea kayaking adventure along the rugged and remote coastline of Cape Chignecto Provincial Park. Over three unforgettable days, you’ll paddle the full length of the park’s dramatic shoreline, including the awe-inspiring, exposed headland of Cape Chignecto itself. This is a true wilderness experience, rich in natural beauty, geological wonder, and coastal solitude.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Paddle into the Wilderness
We begin at the same launch point as our day tours, but soon leave the familiar behind as we paddle 2–3 hours deeper along Cape Chignecto’s majestic coastline. Our destination is the secluded bay of Seal Cove, where we’ll land, enjoy lunch, and set up camp on the beach.
In the afternoon, you can relax, explore, or take a hike up the escarpment to Green Point (approx. 1-hour return). From the top, enjoy panoramic views of the iconic Three Sisters sea stacks and across the Bay of Fundy to Fundy National Park.
Later, choose to paddle again or simply soak in the beauty of the tides. As evening falls, we gather for dinner on the west-facing beach — a perfect vantage point for sunset. You’ll experience the full tidal rhythm of the Bay of Fundy, with water lapping at your tent at high tide and receding to reveal an expansive beach by morning.
Day 2 – Rounding Cape Chignecto
We continue our journey along the park’s dramatic western shoreline. With the tides in our favour, we round the spectacular and remote Cape Chignecto — the park’s namesake and a highlight of the trip.
Here, the cliffs rise to their highest, with landmarks like Devil’s Slide, breathtaking views of Isle Haute, and distant glimpses of Cape d’Or. Our destination is the historic and tranquil Refugee Cove, named for the Acadian families who once hid here in 1755. Towering above the cove is Old Sal, a massive sea stack steeped in local legend.
Camp here for a second night in a truly romantic setting, embraced by wilderness and history.
Day 3 – Return to Advocate Harbour
Our final day takes us along more sheer cliffs, vibrant rock faces, and striking geological formations. As we near journey’s end, the red rock formations marking the southern entrance of the park come into view, along with the familiar skyline of Advocate Harbour — church steeples and rooftops peeking through the trees.
We land back at West Advocate in the early afternoon — tired, fulfilled, and deeply refreshed.
