The Markland welcomes you to the top of Cape Breton Island.
Situated on a peaceful 50-acre private oceanfront setting overlooking a four mile long beach that spans across Aspy Bay from Dingwall to Sugar Loaf with one of the most picturesque views of the Cape Breton Highlands mountain range overlooking the beach, the Markland Coastal Beach Cottages is perfect for families, reunions, or romantic getaways. Located in the picturesque fishing village of Dingwall, the Markland is just minutes away from the world-renowned Cabot Trail and a great base to explore other local activities such as whale watching, kayaking, and golf.
Accommodations
Markland Coastal Beach Cottages includes 23 chalets, log cabins, and log rooms – all of which are well stocked and cleaned daily by our friendly and accommodating housekeeping staff. Our chalets and log cabins have King or Queen beds, sofa beds, a four piece bathroom, living room, and a microwave. There are no kitchen facilities in the log rooms.
In addition to our pristine sandy beach, we have a heated outdoor swimming pool and a wedding/concert hall which is the perfect venue for music, ceilidhs, family reunions, weddings and community events.

The Markland Restaurant
Visit our fabulous onsite restaurant that features some of the best seafood and homemade pies you’ll find in Cape Breton! A continental breakfast is included with your stay with house baked treats (gluten free options available). Our talented chefs celebrate our local seafood and cuisine with a menu that includes wild halibut, lobster, snow crab, seafood chowder, scallops and oysters along with choices including beef, chicken and pasta and a curated wine list by an outstanding sommelier.
