THANK YOU for your interest in Nova Scotia! We are always interested in learning about opportunities to create awareness of Nova Scotia as a travel destination! This form is designed to collect information that will assist us in formally reviewing your request. Please complete this form in full to the best of your abilities.
As a division of the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, Tourism Nova Scotia works with communities and industry operators to attract visitors to the province and increase tourism revenues through experience and sector development, business coaching, marketing, and visitor servicing. Tourism Nova Scotia is responsible for the administration of the Travel Media Relations program, which is designed to assist with creating editorial opportunities to promote the unique products and experiences the province has to offer.
Most of our hosted media visits, press trips and/or partnerships for editorial opportunities are individual, self-drive and custom-designed itineraries developed to meet the needs and requirements of the media representative and/or outlets best suited to helping us reach potential visitors in our core markets: Canada (specifically Ontario, Quebec), USA (specifically New England / Northeast USA), UK & Ireland and Germany.
We review requests/proposals each calender year in Q1 (March) for potential opportunities within our annual budgets and mandates for our fiscal year which begins April 1. When working with travel media and / or travel content creators, we ask that you send us a proposal (click HERE for guidelines) outlining where you are interested in going or what you are interested in doing and what content you would create that would best align with our mutual audiences. It doesn’t need to be lengthy, point form is fine, but most importantly it should define who is your audience, what is your reach and/or outlets and how they align with our target markets, what deliverables you provide, and of course any fees associated with making this happen (in addition to travel expenses). Any travel writer or content creator seeking financial assistance with a hosted press visit for editorial purposes must also complete our media request form online. Proposals and completed media requests forms should be submitted annually by February 28th.
Please send as much detail as possible about your assignment/project, budgets, locations, audience demographics, etc as it relates to helping us reach our core markets. As you know, we are a small but mighty destination! But that also means we have a small and not so mighty budget for our travel media hosting program. We are extrememly fortunate to receive far more requests than we have budget and truly wish we were in a financial position to work with everyone who was interested in helping us create awareness of Nova Scotia as a travel destination!
