Overview

Sherbrook Village Painting Camp – Sherbrooke Village will be hosting a 4 day painting workshop taking place August 11 to 14, 2022..

The village offers a wealth of material for painting and has inspired instructor, Susan Paterson for many years.  Susan has earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick in 1980 and has done further study at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, N.S.; Byam Shaw School of Art, London, England and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, U.S. She has exhibited her work in galleries across Canada for over 30 years.

Susan is proficient in both watercolour and oil painting and students can choose to work in either one.  She’ll be demonstrating various techniques in both mediums and then students will work at their own pace (including beginners) on the subject of their choice, be it plein air painting around the village, an interior in one of the many historic buildings or setting up a still life using various artifacts in the classroom provided.  Susan will guide students in drawing, composition, perspective and colour mixing.

Each evening the class will get together for a short critique, conversation and socializing. On the last day, the artists will host an open house to show their new works. Participants may arrive and stay free on evening prior to start for a refreshed start on opening morning. Visit Susan’s website at www.susanpaterson.ca .

Accommodations and meals will be provided on-site at Sherbrooke Village.
