Overview

Join Atlantic Shark Expeditions to experience the thrill of viewing sharks up close, from the safety of an underwater shark cage or from the comfort of the boat!

Operating off the coast of Halifax, learn about sharks in their natural environment with onboard marine biologists and leading shark experts. Help researchers take water quality measurements and search the surrounding waters for sharks using both aerial drone and underwater cameras. When the time is right, you’ll have the option to go underwater in a shark cage or stay onboard to view sharks and help with shark photo identifications. By taking part in this tour, you’re supporting important shark research and your contributions will be recognized with a citizen science certificate.

Experience Includes:

  • Half-day Boat Tour: Step aboard the Apex Explorer a 40-foot vessel to tour the coast and discover the local marine environment off the coast of Halifax.

  • Cage Dive with the Sharks: You’ll have the option to go underwater multiple times during the tour, starting at 15-20 minutes and increasing, based on interest. The sharks most commonly encountered are blue sharks, makos, and porbeagles.
