Introduction to Gemstones of the Bay of Fundy

Discover intricate varieties of agate, Nova Scotia’s provincial gemstone, that make the Bay of Fundy shores a mecca for rockhounds. Explore the world of rock and gemstone identification, tumbling, and lapidary with tips and techniques from local expert guide Brian with Fundy Treasures Tours.

Your tour includes:

• 1.5 to 2 hour, hands-on tour with local expert guide Brian to learn about and see a vast variety of stunning semi-precious Bay of Fundy gemstones.
• Learn the formation process of these gemstones and how to identify different varieties and locations around the province.
• Learn tips, tricks and techniques for tumbling, cutting and polishing Bay of Fundy gemstones
• Delve into Nova Scotia’s dynamic geological history and hear stories about the history of Nova Scotia’s gemstones and their global recognition.

Tour Length/Distance: 1.5 hours/1 km

Price: $50 + HST per person. Children under 5 are free

What to bring: Weather along the Bay of Fundy can be unpredictable and it’s good to be prepared for anything! Here are a few recommendations:

• Sturdy shoes or hiking boots
• Layers appropriate for wind, rain and warmth
• Sunscreen, a sun hat and sunglasses
• A camera or phone to capture photos of the scenic Bay of Fundy, fossils and minerals!
• A water bottle and a snack are recommended
• A backpack is great to keep all of your necessities together
• Pets are welcome!

Conditions & Cancellations:

• Fundy Treasures requires at least 72 hours notice of cancellation before the scheduled tour. If notice of cancellation is received prior to 72 hours of the scheduled tour a full refund will be issued. No refunds will be issued within 72 hours of the scheduled tour.
• Fundy Treasures tours take place rain or shine with the exception of severe weather. In the event of severe weather (high winds, heavy rain, lightening), the tour will be cancelled. If Fundy Treasures must cancel due to weather, a full refund will be issued.
