Overview
Islands, history, and wild coasts: Explore the remarkable history of Tor Bay and the Canso Islands, and hike coastal trails encountering wonderful geology and wildlife. Our travels will be in space and time, exploring how nature and human history intersect.
Experience Includes
- This adventure begins at Seawind Landing Country Inn and makes several stops along the way to Canso, taking-in wonderful scenery and learning about the early history of the area, including the exploits of the Basque Fisherman. The history story continues as we come to Canso and learn about early European settlements, the competing interests of the French and English, and the many skirmishes and raids that have occurred in the past.
- We also spend time hiking and exploring the wonderful natural history of the Canso Islands area. The geology and wildlife are simply wonderful and the scenery outstanding. We even explore the future, including a proposed rocket launching facility.
- This is the adventure for those interested in extraordinary history and how it interacts with the resilience of nature.
Length: Three hours.

Price: Adult: $75, Children Under 16: $50 (15% discount – booking for two or more)
Good to Know: Bring good footwear (sneakers are fine), layers of clothing, and an inquisitive mind.
Cancellation Policy: Full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the experience start time. Non-refundable after that deadline. If NovaNature is forced to cancel due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, you will be notified as early as possible, and fully refunded.
