Tucked away at the end of a long driveway, Walters Cabin is truly a hidden gem! Warm and welcoming, this hand crafted cabin at the end of a wooded lane offers totally privacy and seclusion. Small and cozy, it is the perfect setting for a peaceful retreat.
Walter’s Cabin is a located in the small ocean front hamlet of Port Joli. At the end of the peninsular – a ten minute walk from Walters Cabin – is the spectacular Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct. At the end of a long treed driveway the cabin is completely secluded and totally private. With hiking trails on the property and white sandy beaches to discover on the peninsular, it is a nature lovers’ paradise. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area: seals, shorebirds, seagulls, cranes, rabbits, chipmunks, deer and raccoons. There may be black bears in the park and if you are lucky you might spot an eagle flying overhead.
Liverpool is the closest town. Here you will find grocery and convenience shops, a liquor store, boutique shopping, restaurants, theatre and museums. A 10 minute drive (East) will bring you to the incredible Carters Beach in Port Mouton. Carry on in this direction and you will drive through Summerville Provincial Park, Hunts Point, White Point and on into Liverpool. A 15 minute drive (West) will take you to the Thomas Raddall Provincial Park where there are more beaches, picnic areas and great hiking trails. Further along westward you will come to the beach front community of Lockeport and the historic town of Shelburne.
Walter’s Cabin is an open concept wood cabin with a cathedral ceiling. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area, bedroom space and bathroom. Built by Walter for his bride Ruthie, it really is a lovers retreat. There is a queen size bed in the far corner of the cabin and a claw foot bath at one end of the bedroom. A wood stove adds to the cabin’s cozy and romantic appeal. Walter’s craftsmanship and Ruthie’s imaginative style is evident throughout. A beautiful hand crafted dining room table and tapestry covered wet bar all add a personal touch and reflect the artistic nature of its owners. A patio door leads out onto a private deck with lawn furniture and propane BBQ.
The cabin is blissfully without TV or Internet, so there no distractions. There are however, plenty of books, cards and CDs for entertainment. Cell phone coverage is good, so you won’t be completely disconnected, unless of course you decide to turn the phone off and enjoy the tranquility.
All bed linens and towels are provided. There are no on-site laundry facilities, but there is a laundromat in Liverpool. The cottage is pet friendly.
Safety
For the protection of our guests we are leaving a full day between guests in order for our cleaning staff to completely clean and sanitize the space. Covid-19 cleaning, health and safety protocols are followed.
Minimum stay
5 to 7 days in July and August; 3 days in May, June, September and October

Payment Options
Deposit required at time of booking. Email Transfer is the preferred method of payment. Visa, MasterCard, or personal cheque in Canadian Dollars also accepted.
Cancellation Policy
50% refund for cancellations made at least 60 days before check-in. 25% refund for cancellation made between 30 and 60 days prior to check-in. No refunds for cancellations made within 30 days of check-in.
