The Wellshire Bed and Breakfast is located in the beautiful town of Lunenburg (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), found along the Lighthouse Route on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. The Wellshire, formerly known as the Herman House, was built circa 1893 and is a fine example of Second Empire Gothic style architecture. The original home was destroyed by fire in 2009 and has since been completely rebuilt. The exterior is an exact replica of the original house, with a curved mansard roof, dormer windows, ornate gingerbread decorations, brackets and “Lunenburg Bump”, an enlarged dormer extended out over the eaves. The interior has been completely remodeled with a spacious, modern, contemporary design that promotes a contemporary style with a touch of old world charm.
We are located close to Blockhouse Hill Park where you can take in a panoramic view of Lunenburg’s front and back harbours. A short walk will take you to the town centre and waterfront, where you can take in the many shops, restaurants and attractions. Lunenburg is home to the Bluenose II, which you can visit when she is in port.
Our accommodations feature two large, non-smoking rooms with queen beds. One comes with a 4-piece ensuite bath with a double vanity and tub, while the other has a private 3-piece bath, featuring a double rain head shower. Both rooms are equipped with wireless Internet, CBTV/DVD, Oreck air purifiers, coffee/tea appliances and compact fridges. We provide either a full English or continental-style breakfast, as well as complimentary coffee, tea and cookies. Laundry facilities are also available on the second floor.
Guests have access to our spacious open-plan lounge and dining room with rich Brazilian cherry wood floors. They can also relax in our attractive, fenced perennial garden, complete with Koi pond, deck and patio.
