The Spinning Wheel Bed & Breakfast is situated in Louisbourg, along the eastern shores of Cape Breton Island, one of Nova Scotia’s most unspoiled stretches of the Atlantic coastline. It is located on the Fleur-de-lis trail, which begins at the Canso Causeway and ends at the magnificent Fortress of Louisbourg. Immerse yourself in the unique history of surrounding community which has been welcoming travellers for close to 300 years.
Visitors can explore beautiful beaches at Kennington Cove or stand beside the ruins at Lighthouse Point, site of Canada’s first lighthouse. As the Spinning Wheel Bed & Breakfast is the closest bed and breakfast to the Fortress of Louisbourg, we will help you plan your whole day at the Fortress. There is much to see and do as you take a stroll into town for an evening meal or entertainment at the Louisbourg Playhouse. Travel into Glace Bay and don a lighted helmet and protective clothing and enter the dark depths of the Glace Bay Miners’ Museum. Pass the rugged shorelines and beaches along numerous hiking trails, including Kennington Cove Beach, where the British landed in 1758 to capture the Fortress of Louisbourg from the French.
Our accommodations include three rooms (double and queen-sized beds), one shared 4-piece bath (guests only) and one ensuite 3-piece bath with shower. Wireless Internet, a ceiling fan, hairdryer, and robes are available for guests. A full, hearty breakfast is served between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Guests can enjoy cable television in a sitting room decorated with antiques, or relax on the large patio deck. Pets are welcome; the property offers a pet-sitting service. There is a small dog on the premises.
