Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley, Tennycape

Overview

Shore Haven is nestled in the Noel Shore, known as the “undiscovered jewel” of Nova Scotia, along the Bay of Fundy and Annapolis Valley region. Offering unparalleled ocean views, miles of tranquil beaches and the awesome spectacles of the world’s highest tides, we provide a unique and traditional Nova Scotia experience. This custom-built, 60-acre waterfront retreat on the Minas Basin provides panoramic ocean views and executive-style accommodations.

From our beautiful central location, guests can listen to the roar of the surf, swim in the mellow salt waters of the Minas Basin or walk on the beach in an area famous for fossils. Fish for sea bass, follow our Trout Pool Brook to the special place where it burbles gently across a sandstone shelf and cascades in a little waterfall to the sea and watch the abundant wildlife, including eagles, owls, rabbits and foxes.

Nearby, experience a step back in time and immerse yourself in the pastoral beauty of the traditional Mennonite community in West Northfield. Maitland Village, designated Nova Scotia’s first Heritage Conservation District, is an historical shipbuilding village and the home of the world’s largest sailing vessel at the Lawrence House Museum. Burncoat Head Park and Interpretation Centre is the site of the world’s highest recorded tides. Guests may wish to experience the thrill of the world’s highest tides up close and personal by going rafting on the tidal bore with the Shubenacadie River Runners in Maitland.

Some of the many other local attractions include Grand Pré National Historic Park, which tells the story of the original Acadian settlers who first built dykes to create fertile farmland, and of their tragic expulsion by the British in 1755, the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park, with its stunning new marshland and bird-viewing walk, Mastodon Ridge Museum fossil display, or golf at Minas View Links, a course by the sea. Horseback riding and riding lessons are available at several nearby locations. All of this is only an hour from Halifax, a cosmopolitan centre with the world’s second-deepest natural harbour, a wide array of restaurants, world-class museums and shopping.

Our accommodations include a modern 4-bedroom luxury house (twin and queen-sized beds), with 4-piece (Whirpool) and 3-piece (shower) baths. The spacious living room, dining room, kitchen and large recreation room with ping pong table overlook the water. The gourmet kitchen with hand-built butternut cabinetry is completely equipped with six full-size appliances: dishwasher, fridge, stove, washer, dryer and microwave. Satellite television, VCR, DVD player and wireless Internet are available. All of this is tastefully decorated with antiques and high quality furnishings, hand-crafted light fixtures, and original art. For an outdoor view of the water, patio doors lead from the dining area onto the large deck, complete with a gas barbecue. We are a proud member of the Innkeepers Guild of Nova Scotia. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
