Martin’s Sissiboo Hideaway
Overview
Martin’s Sissiboo Hideaway is surrounded by pristine woods, walking trails and lush forest growths in the Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia. This exclusive, private waterfront accommodation is a recreation- and nature-lover’s paradise. Bald eagles soar overhead, the maples await tapping, and the river is calling to all paddlers who enjoy endless hours of canoeing or kayaking. A walkway through the woods will guide you to your own personal park where you can barbecue or sit by the dying embers of a fire as the day draws to a close.
The Festival Acadien de Clare is the oldest Acadian festival in the world and a major cultural event in southwestern Nova Scotia, and is held only minutes from our accommodation. Travel to nearby towns of Annapolis Royal and view the historic gardens, Digby for world-famous scallops, or Upper Clements Park for a day the whole family will enjoy. There are whale watching tours in nearby Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Bay of Fundy, with the highest tides in the world, is a day trip away.
Our accommodations include a 2-bedroom, timber-frame waterfront cottage (Queen-sized bed, sofa-bed, cots) with 4-piece bath and a 1-bedroom in the loft with a veranda overlooking the water. The living room boasts a comfortable, cozy arrangement of tables, chesterfield and rocking chairs on which to snuggle down for a good read and quiet conversation. Satellite television and a washer and dryer are available. If the cool of the evening causes you to retire from the deck which overlooks the Sissiboo River, you can curl up in front of a fire built in our impressive stone fireplace. The first level features a fully equipped kitchenette and dining area. A swim, a paddle, a row and the ability to cast a line are all at your doorstep; we are only a short drive from the Digby/St. John Ferry. There are walking trails through the woods, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, a floating wharf, fishing and shops nearby.
