Overview

Kejimkujik, situated in Maitland Bridge is the only inland national park in the Maritimes. It’s also the only national park designated as a National Historic Site in its entirety. Visitors will find historic canoe routes, portages and many beautiful trails.

Kejimkujik is 381 km² with abundant lakes and rivers ideal for canoeing and kayaking – the best in Eastern Canada. The park’s lush woodlands and gently rolling landscapes are home to a variety of wildlife. Interpretive staff lead outings on foot, by canoe or on bikes; some children’s programs are also available. There is a trail here for everyone.

Wander through groves of 300-year-old hemlock trees, test your mountain biking skills on the Ukme’k trail, or visit an overgrown farm. The main park’s trails range from short riverside strolls and hiking trails from 1 to 7 km in length (some with interpretive panels) to long-distance wilderness hiking trails with backcountry campsites.

During the summer months, relax on Merrymakedge Beach, or swim in the warm waters of Kejimkujik Lake. Swimmers can choose a sandy beach or one of many lakes along the trails and canoe routes.

The best way to experience Kejimkujik is by staying overnight, whether you prefer to camp in a tent, trailer, yurt, cabin, Ôasis, or oTENTik, close to amenities and electric sites, or to travel to a wilderness site in the backcountry.

Both Kejimkujik and Kejimkujik Seaside are open year-round. Admission, services and hours vary with the season.
