Overview

East River Meditation Healing Centre offers more than just comfortable and peaceful accommodation. Guests say they feel as comfortable as home. We offer a peaceful and spiritual environment where everyday worries and stresses float away.

Situated on the edge of town in a quiet residential area, with a field across the street and a pleasant walk beyond, past the cemetery and up the hill towards Fraser’s Mountain. In under 10 minute’s walk you can enjoy sweeping, panoramic views of Pictou County.

From our Centre, if you walk 5 minutes in the other direction, towards town and the river, you can stroll along the banks of the East River, following the Sampson Trail. Perhaps you may wish to hire a kayak from the picturesque marina and meander along the river, enjoying a different perspective.

We have bikes and helmets here at the Centre which you are welcome to use to cycle the trails.

Pictou County offers the visitor many areas of outstanding natural beauty and New Glasgow is perfectly situated to enjoy them all. Within minutes of leaving the town you are in the East River Valley with views to touch even the most world-weary traveller. There are lakes, rolling hills, valleys, farmland and woodland, plus quaint villages and many beautiful heritage homes and barns dotting the countryside.

A 15-minute drive will take you to a number of beautiful beaches in spectacular settings; long sand beaches and the warm waters of the Northumberland Shore. Sometimes our guests take off for the day; it is wonderful to see them return, sun-kissed, happy and relaxed.

If you like to be on the water, we are 15 minutes from the ferry to Pictou Island; pack a picnic, take bikes or walk-on to spend a fabulous day walking, beachcombing, swimming on this lovely island; or take the car ferry to Prince Edward Island from the same terminal.

The Northumberland Shore drive towards Amherst starts 10 minutes from us in the lovely old, shire town of Pictou, with fantastic coastal and rural views, offering cafes, restaurants, craft shops and much more along the route and many more beaches. All our beaches have free parking and provide a wonderful, hassle-free visit to swim, walk or just enjoy the marvellous views.

The coastal drive in the other direction through Merigomish and Cape George to Antigonish is dramatically beautiful – known as the mini-Cabot Trail, with beaches, parks to stop for a dip to cool off and one or two welcome spots to lunch. Forget crowds and traffic jams and find the space to breathe again.

Whilst staying awhile in this unspoilt part of the world, why not take the time to re-connect with your inner self on one of our retreats or courses? There is something for everyone, from relaxation retreats to yoga, healing and meditation, which can be combined with a walking or beach holiday break.

Many guests join us for morning or evening meditations to imbibe the peace or meditate in their own way. Some guests book to receive in-depth healing before they leave, others may join a yoga class or book for Pure Meditation Foundation with mindfulness.

Looking for personal growth? We offer individual and group programmes; check out our website or call us for your personalised programme or retreat.
