Blockhouse Hill Bed & Breakfast is located in the heart of historic downtown Dartmouth, which was founded in 1750. Situated in the Halifax Metro region of Nova Scotia, we are on a quiet street, with heritage homes surrounded by lush trees, just three short blocks from the ferry that will take you to the capital city of Halifax.
We are approximately two hundred yards from Dillman Park and its gazebo, with a view from the harbour-mouth into Bedford Basin, where convoys assemble before steaming out of Halifax Habour into the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy the walk from the gazebo down to Geary Street Park for another unique , up-close observation point, and then walk down a few more feet to an old Indian burial ground. You can also stroll down to the Dartmouth waterfront and ferry dock to watch the harbour traffic go by.
A great way to begin a day is to rise early and walk around Lake Banook, on which weekly paddling and rowing meets are held in the summer. On most mornings, you will pass or be passed by canoeists, paddlers or scullers as they skim over the lake.
Our accommodations include two rooms (queen-sized beds) with a shared 4-piece bath. A full breakfast is served between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. (earlier on request). The guest lounge offers cable television, a snack table and free wireless Internet access. An ironing board, hair dryer and phone are also available.
