Birchill Guest House
Overview
Birchill Guest House hugs the shore of Liscombe Bay, in the beautiful Eastern Shore region of Nova Scotia. As you sit on the spacious deck watching the birds and listening to the tranquil sounds of the babbling brook, you will realize paradise is not so expensive, and that this may be the only therapy you will ever need.
The house provides two kayaks in which you can explore the bay. Liscombe Harbour is an excellent site for sea kayaking, as are the adjacent habours of Gegoggan and Ecum Secum. It is also a supurb location for day sailing and boating, and we encourage you to bring your own boats. If you like to hike, the Liscombe Lodge has great trails along the banks of the Liscombe River that will take you upstream to an old suspension bridge and fish ladder. We can also arrange for a boat ride to Liscombe Island, where a two-mile hike will take you to the lighthouse and a picnic lunch on the rocks of the Atlantic Shore.
Children will delight in exploring the rock pools on the inter-tidal zone in front of the guest house. Ten miles to the east is Sherbrooke Village, a restored 19th century village whose exhibits include a working smithy, boat-building shop, and water powered sawmill. The Little Bookroom in Little Liscombe is a children’s library with over three thousand volumes.
Our accommodations include two rooms (queen-sized beds), with a private 3-piece (shower) or 4-piece bath and private, ground-level entrance, and a 1-bedroom oceanfront cottage with a 4-piece bath. Satellite television is available in the rooms. The property boasts ocean frontage, a wharf, and boat launch. Full breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Horseshoes, basketball, and kayaks are available for guests. There is a friendly dog on premises.
