Big Pond Housekeeping Cottages is situated on a hill providing a panoramic view of the Bras d’Or Lakes in the Cape Breton region of Nova Scotia. Very often eagles can be seen soaring high above the cottages, and a sandy, saltwater beach can be found just five minutes drive down the road.
Big Pond is home to an annual festival held each July, celebrating the Scottish heritage of the region through a string of concerts. The Lakes Golf Club is just a ten-minute drive away and has been developed as a world-class, five-star golf course. Big Pond is also the home of signer Rita MacNeil’s famous Rita’s Tea Room, just five minutes from the cottages.
A must-see for your Cape Breton vacation, the Cabot trail can be reached just one-and-a-half hours from Big Pond, and can be completed in a day with several short stops at various look-off points and communities that highlight the diversity of Cape Breton culture.
A must-see festival that takes place in the region is the Celtic Colours Festival, which is held each October and is an event not be missed.
Our accommodations include six 2-bedroom cottages (twin and double beds) with 3-piece baths (whirlpool). Out kitchens are fully equipped, and the living area has a propane fireplace, satellite television and a double pull-out sofa. Laundry facilities are available for our guests.
