Overview
An early MacKay-Lyons design, Bay Bluff Cottage takes full advantage of its setting. Perched at the edge of a bluff with floor to ceiling windows the view of Eel Bay is spectacular. Secluded and private with no ambient light, the surroundings are dark and completely silent. Deer, pheasants and rabbits are the only neighbours you will see. Spend a lazy day reading and gazing out to sea. Try your hand a sea kayaking. Venture out to the beach. The deck, a sunset and dark skies filled with a multitude of stars is all you need for a perfect Nova Scotia night.
Bay Bluff Cottage is located in the seaside community of Blanche approximately halfway between Barrington and Shelburne and is perfectly located to explore the South Shore. At the end of the peninsula – a 5 minute drive – is Blanche Beach, a long deserted wild sandy beach with a lighthouse off shore. Other beaches in the area to explore: Sandhills Beach Provincial Park, Crow Neck Beach, the Hawk and Roseway Beach. Shelburne and Barrington both offer a nice selection of restaurants and museums. Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Chester, Pubnico and Yarmouth are all within easy day tripping distance.
Inspired by the hull of a boat, the space inside is airy and bright and has the feel of an industrial loft, but softened by the use of weathered shingles and hardwood floors. The main floor has an open concept kitchen, living room and dining area. There is a fireplace in the living room and a supply of wood for guests to use.
Bay Bluff Cottage sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the ground floor and has a queen size bed, picture windows and a view of the harbour that is inspiring. Upstairs is a loft bedroom with two single beds and a small balcony. There is a half wall that divides the upper loft bedroom from the staircase and the general living space. There is a four piece bathroom and laundry facilities (stacking washer and dryer).
Large sliding patio doors open up onto the cottage deck that is equipped with propane BBQ. At the bottom of the bluff are some large boulders that act as a retaining wall. The shoreline is a mix of pebbles with patches of sand at low tide. A foot path leads from the cottage garden to the water front allowing you to launch the cottage kayak into the sheltered bay.
All bed linens and towels are provided. Bay Bluff Cottage does have internet access. It does not have satellite TV but it does have a TV and a large selection of DVDs for movie. The cottage is not pet friendly. The cottage comes with a 2 person kayak.
Safety
For the protection of our guests Covid-19 cleaning, health and safety protocols are followed. Where possible we blocked a full day between bookings in order for our cleaning staff clean and sanitize the space.
Minimum stay
5 to 7 days in July and August; 3 days in May, June, September and October

Payment Options
Deposit required at time of booking. Email Transfer is the preferred method of payment. Visa, MasterCard, or personal cheque in Canadian Dollars also accepted.
Cancellation Policy
50% refund for cancellations made at least 60 days before check-in. 25% refund for cancellation made between 30 and 60 days prior to check-in. No refunds for cancellations made within 30 days of check-in.
