Overview

Take a guided coastal hiking tour at low tide to Clarke Head Arch in the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark. Stand on the ocean floor and marvel at the arch overhead which will be partially submerged by the worlds highest tides, just hours after your visit!   

Experience Highlights:

  • Hike 6 km of breathtaking Bay of Fundy coastline in the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark, with Outdoor Council of Canada certified field leader and GeoPark Ambassador, Anna.
  • Explore extraordinary prehistoric rock formations, created more than 200 million years ago when Morocco and Nova Scotia were connected.
  • See diverse geology and stunning scenery like mudstone and sandstone overlain by North Mountain Basalt, the Cretaceous fault showcasing steeply tilted Carboniferous rocks that thrust over Triassic rocks.
  • Learn to identify marble, limestone, shale, sandstone, conglomerate, and igneous rocks. The compilation of this distinctive coastline offers a colourful array of landscapes and is perfect for contemplative photographers and geology buffs alike.

Availability: Offered year-round on most days during low tide, rain or shine. Please note that a specific tour time will be confirmed upon booking as it is based on daily fluctuating tide times.

Cost: $180 for 1- 4 participants. Add additional participants for +$40 per person, up to a maximum of 6 participants.

How to book: Contact Tide Rollers & Mudlarkers directly by email or phone 1-306-631-8539. When booking, please indicate your interest (photographer, avid hiker, casual walker) to help us in planning your optimal tour.

Good to know:

  • Duration & distance: 3 – 4 hours, 6 km (including return)
  • Meeting point: The gate/parking area at Glooscap Municipal Campground (a geosite within the Geopark), 1380 Two Islands Road (6km from Parrsboro). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour start time, which will be confirmed once your tour is booked.
  • What to wear and bring: Hat, hiking boots or, at a minimum, runners with sturdy tread are a must. Dress in layers to keep the wind/sun out. The weather can be unpredictable. Bring a daypack with drinking water and your preferred snacks. If you would like to take pictures, bring your camera with a fully charged battery. Rain ponchos available upon request.

Cancellation Policy: Advance booking is required; tour times depend on the tides and are different every day. All tours require a minimum of 1person, max 6. Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance of scheduled tours. If your tour is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, there will be no charge, and we will try to rebook your tour.
