Death from Above 1979

After a jam-packed show in Halifax last spring, Death From Above 1979 returns to the East Coast to make their debut at the iconic Shore Club in Hubbards, Nova Scotia, on Friday, Aug. 1. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m. at sonicconcerts.com.

In 2024, the Canadian power duo Death From Above 1979 marked the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough debut LP, You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, with a celebratory tour, including sold-out shows in Halifax and Moncton. The album is a genre-bending, iconoclastic cult classic that sounds as fresh today as it did in 2004. Dubbed “dance punk” by the UK music press, Death From Above 1979’s music drives those who hear it onto underlit, Saturday-night-fevered dance floors.

20 years is a long time in rock ’n’ roll, but the odometer turns slowly for this power duo, and their live shows are as explosive as ever.
