Sie sind in gro\u00dfen Teilen Nordamerikas der bevorzugte Weihnachtsbaum, weil sie dichtes, sattes Gr\u00fcn, einen angenehmen Duft und einen geringen Nadelfall haben. Jedes Jahr verkaufen und verschicken die Weihnachtsbaumz\u00fcchter aus Nova Scotia \u00fcber 350.000 Balsamtannen in ganz Kanada und in die USA \u2013 und verbreiten damit den typischen Weihnachtsduft auf dem ganzen Kontinent.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"642\" data-end=\"743\"><strong>Doch das sind nicht die einzigen Weihnachtsb\u00e4ume in Nova Scotia, die weltweit Aufmerksamkeit erregen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"1339\">Geschm\u00fcckt mit bunten Bojen, funkelnden Lichtern und Tannenzweigen entstehen dort beeindruckende Weihnachtsb\u00e4ume aus sorgf\u00e4ltig gestapelten Hummerfallen. In vielen Fischergemeinden geh\u00f6ren sie inzwischen fest zur Tradition. <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Barrington<\/span><\/span> an der S\u00fcdwestk\u00fcste bezeichnet sich selbst als \u201eHummerhauptstadt Kanadas\u201c \u2013 zu Recht, denn etwa 40 % des kanadischen Hummerfangs stammen j\u00e4hrlich aus dieser Region. Jedes Jahr wird dort ein etwa f\u00fcnf Meter hoher Baum aus rund 200 rechteckigen Metallfallen (sogenannten Lobster Pots) errichtet \u2013 direkt am Damm von Cape Sable Island. Die meisten dieser Fallen stammen aus der \u00f6rtlichen M\u00fclldeponie und haben zuvor tausende Hummer auf dem Meeresgrund gefangen. Anschlie\u00dfend werden sie mit \u00fcber 180 Holz- und Plastikbojen geschm\u00fcckt. Jede ist individuell bemalt und geh\u00f6rt zu einem lokalen Fischerboot; viele tragen die Namen von Fischern, die auf See ums Leben kamen.<\/p>\n<p>Im Laufe der Jahre haben sich weitere Gemeinden in Nova Scotia dieser Tradition angeschlossen, darunter <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">East Pubnico<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Port Mouton<\/span><\/span>, Lunenburg, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Sandy Point<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Port Maitland<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Toney River<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Wallace<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ch\u00e9ticamp<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Gabarus<\/span><\/span> und <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Musquodoboit Harbour<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eDer Hummerfallen-Weihnachtsbaum bringt \u2013 wie alle Weihnachtsb\u00e4ume \u2013 Familien, Freunde und unsere wunderbare Gemeinschaft zusammen, um die Weihnachtszeit und die Hummersaison zu feiern.
