There is no shortage of exciting winter activities to try in Nova Scotia. Go snowshoeing at Wreck Cove Wilderness Cabins or Sea Spray Outdoor Adventures in Smelt Brook. For downhill skiing, head to Wentworth, and for cross-country make your way to Kejimkujik National Park or Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Enjoy a sleigh ride at Hatfield Farm in Hammonds Plains. And if the kids want to experience dog sledding, then head to Crown Jewel Resort in Baddeck, Cape Breton Island. It’s all waiting for you this winter in Nova Scotia.
There are also plenty of family activities to enjoy indoors at the province’s 27 different museums. Start with Halifax’s Discovery Centre. It never fails to delight children, as they learn about the weather, great Maritime achievers in science and technology and try their hand at different hands-on experiments. The Museum of Natural History is always a hit, with its explanation of the early history of Nova Scotia, its many different displays and Gus, the roving tortoise. You also don’t want to miss learning about the Halifax Explosion at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic or hearing about the different waves of immigrants to Canada at Pier 21 National Historic Site of Canada.
