 | | The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has named Joggins Fossil Cliffs, on the western coast of Nova Scotia, a World Natural Heritage Site. Joining Old Town Lunenburg on this esteemed list, the World Heritage Committee deemed Joggins a geological wonder. The coastal cliffs reveal the most complete fossil record of life during earth’s “Coal Age”, 300 million years ago! And visitors can view these rare fossils of plants and animals preserved in the place where they lived. Begin your visit at the Joggins Fossil Centre which houses interpretive displays for visitors and acts as a departure point for guided tours of the Fossil Cliffs. You will also find an array of amenities at the wheelchair accessible centre including a café, gift shop, parking, tourism information and more. |  |  | | The Clare Interpretive Centre will open in the summer of 2009 and will include a number of exhibits on the history of the Acadians in the Clare region. The centre will also include a multi-media exhibit, art gallery and information centre. |  |  | | The Eatonville day-use area of Cape Chignecto Provincial Park will officially open to the public in the Spring of 2009. Located in Eatonville Harbour, the day-use park will provide visitors with accessible walking trails suitable for everyone including families and the physically challenged. |

 |  | Cape Breton Island has been named the Best Island to visit in the United States and Canada in Travel + Leisure's 2008 World’s Best Awards! |  |  |  | Annapolis Royal was recently chosen as the winner of the International Challenge - Small Category - at the Communities in Bloom Awards in Lethbridge, Alberta, "outblooming" five other communities from Canada, Ireland, England and the United States. The Historic Gardens, along with the beautifully maintained grounds of many homes and businesses, anchored the success in several of the evaluation categories and the strong record of heritage preservation in the community was noted by the judges, in terms of both the built heritage and the experiential components such as the Candlelight Graveyard Tour. |

Due to open in 2010, the 175-room hotel will be attached to the terminal building will feature world-class amenities. |  |  |  | A 130-room Hilton Garden Inn will be built at the corner of Hollis and Sackville Streets in Halifax. Plans are to organically grow L'Acadie grapes and craft them into premium traditionally bottle fermented sparkling wines and table wines. |  |  | | Benjamin Bridge Vineyards is another addition to the Gaspereau Valley wine region. In development, since 2000, they released their first limited-edition wine, Nova 7, in Halifax this past summer. Their focus will also be on sparkling wines, fermented in the bottle, French style. |
