The Online Packages & Offers Manager is a new e-marketing program that allows operators to purchase coupon display space online through the www.novascotia.com/partners portal. Online packages and/or offers will be featured in different sections on www.novascotia.com as applicable against the specified product and will also be included in a dedicated vacation values section in the seasonal micro-site.
Criteria
To qualify as a Package, the following criteria must be met:
- minimum 1 overnight stay (accommodations or campgrounds)
- at least 2* of the following:
- transportation to or within destination area
- meals at or en-route to destination
- activities or entertainment
- mementos or souvenirs
- related services - guides, instructors, equipment, baggage handling, welcome reception, etc.
- fees or admissions
(* can include 2 of something as well, ie. 2 meals, 2 admission fees, kayak rental for 2, bottle of wine and cheese tray, etc.)
To qualify as an Offer, at least one of the following criteria must be met:

- value-added feature with minimum $10 value
- 2 for the price of 1
Rates
A fee of $50 per online package or offer will be charged for each 3-month block of display time. Users are able to choose the three months that they would like their package/offer to be displayed online. If an operator chooses to display their package/offer for less than three months, the fee still remains at $50. For operators wishing to display their package/offer year round, a special rate of $175 will apply, however, please note at this time, the program will require the same package / offer to be available year round. (Note: As we progress with the program, more timely updates / options will be available to the operator).
Payment
When the package/offer has been previewed by the operator and is submitted for subsequent approval by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, an electronic invoice will be issued to the operator stating in text the details of the booking and payment. At this time, only cash or cheques will be accepted as payment, however, online credit card transactions will be phased in at a later date.
Process
Operators will able to edit/change the details of their package/offer prior to the live date (ie. the date chosen for the beginning of the display of their package/offer) . The contact will be notified by email for approval with each change.
The number of packages / offers an operator can purchase is unlimited, however, the cost is applied to each unique package / offer. From time to time, special promotional opportunities will be made available for purchase through this site and operators will be emailed with additional information.
As part of this new program, statistics on the number of times the coupon is viewed and/or printed will be tracked. This information will be made available to the operator, however, we will also request that you submit "redemption" statistics on a monthly basis (ie. how many were redeemed with the unique ID indicating a publication of the Department). If an operator does not submit a redemption number for a month, they will not be able to access web statistics on their coupon. The Department will provide monthly web statistics on each package / offer. Statistics will include:
- # click throughs from the package/offer to operator's website (how many times the operator's website address has been clicked on in the displayed package/ offer on www.novascotia.com )
- # PDF downloads, if applicable (number of times the package/special offer has been downloaded if included in a Vacation Value Book PDF)
- # Accessed (number of time the package/offer has been accessed by a user on www.novascotia.com )
- # Visits to www.novascotia.com
When a package / offer expires, an email will notify the operator that their package/special offer has expired on www.novascotia.com and reminds the operator to visit the portal to submit new packages /offers.
Packages / offers will be searchable online by date range, category, travelway, price range, location and a master list.
