This weekend, the first of three July showcase weekends commemorating the 225th anniversary of the Loyalist landing in Shelburne, will celebrate Shelburne's rich maritime heritage and showcase Shelburne Harbour. The weekend will be geared for total family participation and enjoyment!
Some of the weekend's featured events will include:
- a Loyalist Regatta
- Queen of Hearts Dory Club races
- lobster boat races
- "political boat races"
- authentic 18th century wooden longboats
- Tall Ships and Canadian Navy ship open to the public for tours
- model ship exhibit and contest
- large sail past in Shelburne Harbour
- a soapbox derby through the streets of Shelburne
- a family treasure hunt
- a sunset concert on the historic waterfront
- a multicultural food fair at the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club
- a sky diving demonstration
- bathtub races in Shelburne Harbour
- numerous booths, exhibits and demonstrations featuring local vendors and clubs, community service organizations
