In 2008, the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site of Canada will be commemorating the 250th anniversary of the second siege of Louisbourg. This siege, a turning point in the Seven Years War, opened the way for the seaborne attack on Québec the next year. James Wolfe gained prominence as one of three divisional commanders during this siege and the following year became overall commander of the British land forces attacking Québec.

Louisbourg is North America's largest historical reconstruction with a large costumed interpretation program depicting life in the town, ca. 1744. As part of our commemoration activities, we will be holding an encampment of military and civilian French, British and Native re-enactors and sutlers. This will be a unique opportunity to experience life inside an 18th century town and fortress
