With 90 plus countries, 1300 athletes and more than 1000 volunteers will make Canoe09 the largest international sporting event that the Halifax Regional Municipality has ever hosted.

Lake Banook successfully hosted this event in 1997. Thousands of spectators took in the races and became the first City to host a festival around the championships. The festival provided entertainment, shopping, fireworks, food and beverages, and a venue to present Nova Scotia’s unique culture and history to the thousands of spectators and athletes who attended the event.

Preparations for Canoe ’09 are well under way. This event will be the biggest and best sporting event Dartmouth has ever hosted.
