The opening of every season’s Scottish Festival's in Nova Scotia occurs in Pugwash on July 1st, with the annual Gathering of the Clans & Canada Day Celebrations. The festivities begin early in the morning with Highland Dancing Competitions held on the Eaton Stage. Piping and Drumming Competitions commence later in the morning at the Eaton Estate. The Highland Heavyweight Games also begin late in the morning. Events such as the Caber Toss and the Hammer Throw draw in a huge crowd. Also in celebration of Canada Day and our Scottish Heritage, the Gathering of the Clans hosts a Grand Street Parade, Children’s Parade, live entertainment, midway, crafts, lobster dinners, clowns, busker, spectacular fireworks display and loads of fun!
