A special annual celebration of maritime culture and heritage and "those that go down to the sea in ships" - this religious observance is proudly sponsored by the SS Atlantic Heritage Society near the site where the passenger ship SS Atlantic foundered in 1873, the worst marine disaster on the entire Atlantic seaboard prior to the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.
